Concepts teams up with the fellow New England based Converse once again for a high quality presentation of the Men's/Women's Converse. The Chuck Taylor All Star 1970s is constructed with a premium Cone® denim upper in a raw indigo hue. As a ‘1970s’ edition of the Chuck Taylor, the classic silhouette features triple-stitching for added durability, higher rubber foxing, and a more comfortable insole to ensure a high quality vintage look and feel.
Set forth atop the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Trainers, the collaboration aims to mimic Bridges’ signature touch as it fully adorns with her visually rich “Harlem Toile,” a wallpaper-esque artwork that lenses the culturally significant neighborhood through a filter of Victorian style. The original toile is repurposed for the canvas of the footwear silhouette, its print deep in color and texturally reminiscent of wallcoverings (the print’s intended medium). The characters atop, which stand against pastoral greenery, depict the mundane — jumping rope, playing basketball, dancing, picnics, etc. — while simultaneously commenting on the stereotypes that are, as Bridges puts it, “deeply woven into the African American experience.”
